The FACE Study

FACE (Fiercely Advocating for Community Empowerment) addresses the need to develop a HIV intervention that is culturally tailored, transgender specific, and provide resources for sexual health promotion and practice for transgender youth. The objective of this pilot project is to explore the views that shape transgender youths’ views on relationships and sexual decision making using photovoice.

To help us better understand the issues facing transgender communities and to develop collaborative efforts to better understand and address these issues, we would like to invite individuals (ages 16-24) to participate in a 90-minute one-on-one interview. A select number of individuals will be invited to participate in 4 photovoice sessions.

For Participants: You will share your thoughts on how culture, family, and peers shape expectations in sexual and romantic relationships.  Participants will receive $60 for participating in either the in-depth interview and brief survey. Participants in the photovoice sessions will receive $40 for completing 4 sessions (Total $160). All the information collected in this study will be kept confidentially. The TURN IT UP Study

TURN IT UP (Transgender Unique Resources and Networking through Internet Technology) helps us to develop transgender-specific internet-based
interventions and resources for sexual health promotion and practice. To help us better understand the issues facing transgender communities and to develop collaborative efforts to address these issues, we are inviting transgender women individuals (18 years +) for a 90-minute one-on-one interview and/or focus group.

For Participants: You will receive $60 ($40 for participating in either the in-depth interview or focus group, $20 for completing the questionnaire). If you only complete the online survey found (here), you will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a $20 Amazon gift card.
